Exploring Bangkok

We woke up Friday morning well rested and ready to explore the city of Bangkok. We went down to enjoy the breakfast buffet here at the hotel and it was absolutely amazing. They had everything you could ever want and more! This is just a picture of my fruit plate below... All kinds of crazy fruits I had never even heard of before!

We then went over to the Grand Palace via public boat transportation and met this Dutch chick named Lizzy. She was pretty cool and hung out with us all day. Here we are in front of some cool building in the Grand Palace complex.

Before you can enter the temple that houses the Emerald Buddha, you have to remove your shoes (try finding them again)..

And sprinkle holy water on your head? Truth is, we don't really know what everyone was doing, but Julian did it anyway...

After the Grand Palace, we went to Khao San Road which is known as a backpacker street. There were lots of bars and hostel type places that we may stay at when we return to Bangkok.

Julian had to take a picture at Mollys Pub for his old PGS buds.

And then he wanted to take some Muy Thai boxing lessons...

We then went on to Chinatown, which really isn't all that different from Bangkok in general. We took a Tuk Tuk there and that turned out to be a pretty cool mode of transportation until the driver dropped us off in the wrong spot and we got lost trying to navigate the streets with our crappy, not to scale map.

We finally got tired of walking so we stopped at this little road side stand for some noodle soup! It was pretty good until Julian added WAY too much pepper powder stuff... Thai spicy!

After Chinatown, we went back to the hotel and cleaned up before our sunset cocktail cruise down the Chao Phraya River. The views were great and the drinks were flowing :)

To finish up the day we went out to the Pat Phong District. More shopping, drinks and ladyboys... It was interesting.
